Using Smart Rant

Smart Rant is a private voice archive: an iPhone app and a web companion. By using it you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. You must be old enough to form a binding agreement where you live, and at least 13 years old.

Your content

You own what you record and everything derived from it. You give us permission to store, process and display your content only to provide the service to you, including sending it to the processors described in the privacy policy. We don't claim ownership of your content, sell it, or use it for advertising.

You're responsible for what you record. Don't use Smart Rant to record other people where that requires their consent and you don't have it, or for anything unlawful.

Your account

Keep your sign-in secure. You can export your data or delete your account at any time from Account. Deleting your account is permanent.

Subscriptions

Smart Rant is free to use. Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription purchased through Apple's App Store and governed by Apple's terms, including billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds. Apple bills you, and you manage or cancel the subscription on your iPhone in Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Features and monthly allowances for each plan are described on the pricing page. If a subscription ends, your history stays; only Pro features and higher allowances stop.

What the intelligence is, and isn't

Transcripts, labels, modules, Ask answers and Relive stories are generated automatically and can be wrong. They are grounded in your recordings and show the moments they rely on, so you can check them. Smart Rant is not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, not a therapist, and not an emergency service. If you are in crisis, contact local emergency services.

Acceptable use

Don't attempt to access another person's data, disrupt or reverse engineer the service beyond what the law allows, or use automated means to overload it. We may suspend accounts that do.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Smart Rant reliable, but it is provided “as is” without warranties to the extent the law allows, and our liability is limited to the extent the law allows. We may update these terms; for material changes we'll give notice in the app before they apply.
